Posted by: Mid City Arsonist  |  February 19th, 2009  |  Category: Lifestyle, Music, News

As most of you know, one of the most exciting radio stations based in Los Angeles was killed off the air a few weeks ago to re-program it Regional Mexican tunes.   KCRW has announced the exciting news this week, Henry Rollins will relocate his show Harmony in My Head to KCRW, where, starting Saturday, March 7, he will spin weekly from 6-8 pm. This is happy news for music fans and you get to hear Henry’s amazing stories with Ian MacKaye, the Cramps and life as a teenage punk in DC.

What I love about Los Angeles, is the diverse pockets that truely represent what the West Coast. Last night I dipped into 01 Gallery and check out the new Chazz Bojorquez and Gregory Bojorquez exhibition. Chaz, an icon of Chicano art culture and one of the oldest active graffiti writers, displays new and older pieces from a over sized glitter handgun to a beautiful roll call placas…Photog Greg B displays a detailed over view of cholo life in SoCal from car clubs to Las Freaky’s.

Alton Ellis

9/1/38 - 10/10/08

“Godfather of Rocksteady” passed away this weekend in London after loosing his battle to cancer.
As a favorite of mine through my high school daze, I sadly never got the chance to see him perform.

R.I.P. Alton…he forever lives on through my speakers.

Got a chance to check out a new spot in LA called the Jian Korean BBQ on Beverly. Pop your head in and check out the Japanese pachinko arcade bar, pretty funny but wicked layout with American movie themes like Indiana Jones and Star Wars. Peep it while you sipping on a cadillac with your gangsta lean oooh hooo!
